Sponsorship & Products Received Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This policy outlines how Policy & Packets (operated by Micah Wade) handles sponsorships, product reviews, and any items or services received from companies, organisations, or individuals.
I am writing this as I start Policy & Packets, I do not see the blog getting to a point where i will need this but i am writing this down now so everyone knows my policy on it. If you are a company looking to sponsor or send me products the best way is to reach out via Linkedin.
1. Editorial Independence
- No Bought Opinions: Under no circumstances will I accept payment, free hardware, or services in exchange for a guaranteed positive review or endorsement. All opinions expressed on this site are entirely my own.
- Full Control: I retain 100% editorial control over all content published on this blog. Sponsors or vendors will never have the right to preview, edit, or approve entire articles before publication. If the content is sponsored the call to action snippet solely can be reviewed before publication but if I disagree with a sponsor I will have the right to walk away before publication.
- Relevance: I will only partner with companies or review products that are directly relevant to the themes of this blog (e.g., computer hardware, networking gear, open-source software, developer tools, or transit-related technology). I will never accept sponsors which are not a good value for my readers or unrelated (e.g. Random phone app, Finance, or Gambling).
2. Disclosure of Products Received
Sometimes, hardware manufacturers or software vendors may send products for review.
- Clear Disclosures: If a product or service was provided to me at no cost, I will clearly disclose this at the beginning of the review or article.
- No Obligation: Receiving a product does not guarantee that I will review it. If the product is substandard, I will say so, or I may choose not to write about it at all.
3. Sponsored Content
If an article is sponsored (i.e., I received monetary compensation to write or host it):
- Explicit Tagging: The article will be clearly and prominently marked with a disclaimer at the top (e.g., "This article is sponsored by [Company Name]").
- Sponsored Badges: The post will be visually distinguished from standard editorial posts.
4. Affiliate Links
Currently, Policy & Packets does not use affiliate marketing. If I decide to use affiliate links in the future:
- I will only recommend products which i have used.
- Every page containing affiliate links will have a clear disclosure statement.
