AI Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
At Policy & Packets, I believe in transparency, authenticity, and clear communication. As AI tools (such as Large Language Models, code assistants, and automated research utilities) become more prevalent, I want to clearly define how these tools are used on the blog.
My philosophy is simple AI should not be a ghostwriter that replaces me.
1. Article Writing and Content Generation
All written works published on Policy & Packets are written entirely by me (Micah) unless stated otherwise this will be clear to you, that I have a guest writer on my blog and any writer on the blog should follow these Rules about AI. I do not use AI to generate entire posts, write paragraphs, draft articles, or write any words which are not explicitly stated to be AI this would be done if I was reviewing AI's and all text would be quoted as coming from the AI.
2. Research, Proofreading, and Editing
-
While I write all content myself, but as someone who found English hard at school I make a lot of mistakes with writing and inserting words when reading something which are not there. To make my blog more readable to people I will have AI tell me where improvements in readability can be made and where any spelling or grammar mistakes the text editor I use does not pickup. For this I don't have it tell me how to fix it I will use it as a tool to tell me why something is an issue and it's up to me to fix it and I have the final decision.
-
For Research I may use AI to give me a summary of something I am thinking of writing about and this is not what i write it's just for me to understand if it's worth doing more research. In order to prove this to you where applicable I will be providing sources at the bottom using APA7 formatting and use footnotes like this 1 where applicable or quoting something.
3. Web Development and Code Assistance
This blog runs on code generated by AI while it's my opinion that most LLM's are trained on stolen work, the genie is out of the bottle can't go back in.
- Code Generation: I actively use AI assistants (like GitHub Copilot) to write code, generate configuration scripts, debug server errors, and write frontend code.
- Code Shown On The Blog: If I publish code snippets or tutorials on this blog, I will ensure they are manually tested. If any code was generated for the post, I will state so and which AI model was used. If I am referring to code which is a part of a project I will not provide disclosure as I can't be sure if it's AI or human.
4. Images and Media
- All diagrams, system designs, and flowcharts are designed by me using tools like Mermaid.js or standard graphic software.
- If I ever use AI-generated images or artwork on the blog, they will be explicitly labeled as such in the image caption and if generated by me I will state which model I used these will be used if I am comparing these models or talking about them.
Why this policy matters
Blogging is a personal medium. When you read Policy & Packets, you are reading about my journey as an IT student and network enthusiast in Canberra. I want you to be confident that there is a real person behind every word, sharing genuine thoughts and experiences.
